SchoolHouse #3 | Merrimack Historical Society
Merrimack, NH is a town consisting of four villages, Reeds Ferry, Souhegan Village, Thorntons Ferry, and South Merrimack, located in Hillsboro County, in Southern NH. They have a unique history with an incorporation date of 1746, with part of the town now belonging to Massachusetts. The Historical Society commissioned Hampshire Pewter to create an ornament of the past and the present Schoolhouse #3. Schoolhouse #3 was built in 1894 on State Road Reeds Ferry, and moved in 1952 to 10 Depot Street. It was one of the first schools in Merrimack NH after New Hampshire declared there should be structured education.  The current schoolhouse #3 building housed PTA Kindergarten for 60 years and is now the home of The Merrimack Historical Society.
