History of Christmas Ornaments

History of Christmas Ornaments

Do you know the history of ornaments?  Christmas trees started with evergreen boughs decorating a home, symbolizing eternal life and rebirth. Eventually, that moved to bringing in an entire evergreen tree on Christmas Eve.  The tree was thought to represent the "Paradise Tree" of Adam and Eve from the Bible, and it was decorated with apples and sometimes nuts, straw, tinsel, etc. Decorations became handmade items from the family, with items from the home easily obtainable. However, eventually, German artisans started making hand-blown glass balls for decorating. The elaborate decorating didn't start until Queen Victoria was pictured with her lavishly decorated tree. In the 20th century, the Shiny Brite company started producing ornaments in the United States. Today, ornaments come in various materials and have a vast range of designs for everything.

Our ornaments make great additions to every tree, and many purchase them as gifts for friends and loved ones.

Christmas Ornaments without a Christmas Tree

For those of you who are saying but I don't put up a tree anymore, guess what, these are still great to add a little cheer around your home.  We have many customers who hang them in windows, or off of a fireplace, and other places.  We even had a customer take an old door wih several glass panes and create a decor piece for his home.  He painted the door, added some back lights, and then hung several ornaments in the glass panes. Here is the secret, our ornaments are so durable, and pretty that they are not just for Christmas trees anymore.  Take a peek at our collection, we have several series, and cover themes of santa, christian, bridges, memories, winter scenes, NH, and so much more.
