The First Catholic Church of Delaware County - Custom Christmas Ornament
In 1822, Dennis Kelly donated land to Bishop Conwell for a parish church and cemetery. The first Roman Catholic Church in Delaware County was built as a wood building and served immigrant mill workers and their families. The church was named for SAINT DENIS, a martyr and the first bishop of Paris. The church has gone through two rebuilds or upgrades both times being rebuilt as an all stone structure. The Current building was completed in the mid-1940s.
Augustinians served the parish until the 1990s when archdiocesan priests were appointed to the parish. The parish of St. Denis prides themselves on community. They strive to serve their community allowing all to fall in love with Jesus Christ and nurture their relationships with Him and one another.
